What the mural describes.
Mid-April. The air shimmers with the sheer volume of blossom. An ornamental cherry tree, heavy with double-petalled flowers, forms a jubilant canopy of sugar-pink petals that blush deeper in the shadows. From within this exuberant cloud, a male chaffinch, his breast a warm rose, his cap a cool slate, perches on a gnarled branch. His beak is open, his tiny body upright, delivering an accelerating cascade of song into the sun-drenched air. White wing bars flash against the chestnut of his back, and new spring green leaves are just unfurling amongst the profusion of bloom. Petals drift like confetti, catching the light as they fall, hinting at the soft spring sky beyond.
