What is the inspiration behind the Dark Jacobean design?
The Dark Jacobean design is inspired by a piece of 17th-century crewelwork found in a timber-framed farmhouse in the Welsh borders. It translates the Jacobean Tree of Life, with its fantastical flowers and leaves, into a mural wallpaper, capturing the aged beauty of original wool embroidery.
How does the colour palette contribute to the mood of the design?
The palette, featuring Aged Linen Dark, Crewel Indigo, Jacobean Ochre, Forest Wool, and Pomegranate Dark, evokes an antiquarian warmth. These colours are not dramatically dark, but rather reflect the natural hues acquired by objects kept in old English houses with limited sunlight over centuries, creating a sense of history and quiet elegance.
Is the pattern perfectly symmetrical like traditional damask?
