The Composition

What the mural describes.

From an impossible vantage, you are suspended directly above a formal garden, an exquisite 'embroidered parterre' unfurling beneath you like a vast, verdant carpet. Swathes of deep Box Green, precisely clipped dwarf box hedges, trace elegant arabesques, scrolls, and interlocking patterns, their forms so perfect they seem drawn with a compass. Between these living lines, the ground shifts from the pale, sun-drenched Gravel White to the warm, earthy Gravel Red, with deeper notes of Gravel Dark providing a subtle, artistic shadow. Occasional Stone Edging defines pathways, while miniature Topiary Dark pyramids or spheres mark crucial intersections, punctuating the design. Here and there, a fleeting splash of Flower Dot hints at seasonal bloom, a vibrant counterpoint to the disciplined verdure. It is a landscape of profound order, a botanical masterpiece where nature is elevated through human artistry.

This mural is a testament to the marriage of mathematics and botany, a tranquil yet commanding presence for a study, library, or hallway, inviting contemplation and quiet admiration. Each mural is a unique commission, printed to your wall's precise measurements on a luxurious, matt non-woven paste-the-wall paper, ensuring a flawless, integrated finish that transforms your space.

How It Arrives

A roll, a paste, a named hanger.

Each mural is printed to the exact measurements you submit — width, height, and drop — then supplied as sequentially numbered panels, ready to hang in order. Paste system: standard overlap paste, seams pattern-matched. No trimming required.

We work with a trusted network of specialist paperhangers. At the order stage we can introduce a recommended installer in your area — or supply full installation notes for your own hanger.

Questions

Asked of the studio.

What is a 'parterre de broderie'?

A 'parterre de broderie' is a highly refined garden design, originating in French and Italian Renaissance gardens. It features low, clipped box hedges arranged in intricate, flowing patterns that, when viewed from above, resemble embroidery or lacework. These patterns are typically laid out on a ground of contrasting coloured gravels.

How is this mural installed?

Our murals are printed on high-quality, non-woven 'paste-the-wall' paper. This means you apply the adhesive directly to your wall, rather than to the paper, making installation cleaner and often simpler. Each panel is numbered for easy, sequential hanging.

Can I see a sample before ordering the full mural?

Yes, we highly recommend ordering a sample to experience the texture, colour, and print quality of our mural paper. Samples allow you to see how the design will appear in your specific lighting conditions before committing to a full order.
