The Composition

What the mural describes.

Dawn light breaks through a pearlescent overcast sky painted wet-on-wet, cloud edges dissolving into one another, the light source diffused and everywhere at once as it is on the Cornish coast before the sun burns through. Below, a harbour town rises on the hillside in warm cream and dove grey, each window a single dark rectangle, each roofline one confident stroke. The granite harbour wall extends into the foreground, its cool blue-grey blocks and warm ochre mortar lines the compositional spine around which the scene arranges itself. A red-hulled trawler dominates the left — its scarlet paint reflected in broken ribbons on the still water, masts and rigging drawn fine against pale sky, deck details suggested rather than catalogued. A blue fishing boat rests against old rope fenders; a small dinghy is tied to a weathered mooring post; stacked lobster pots cluster at the wall's base in quick wicker strokes; a herring gull perches on the capstone, white breast catching the light; two more wheel above the town. In the far distance a headland fades to the palest blue-grey in pure atmospheric perspective, barely distinguishable from sky.

This mural transforms a kitchen or dining room into a room with a view — not a decorative reference to the sea but the actual sensation of standing on the harbour wall at first light. Printed to your wall's exact dimensions and supplied in numbered drops. Bespoke commissions welcome: dusk palette, different vessel colours, a specific harbour character.

How It Arrives

A roll, a paste, a named hanger.

Each mural is printed to the exact measurements you submit — width, height, and drop — then supplied as sequentially numbered panels, ready to hang in order. Paste system: standard overlap paste, seams pattern-matched. No trimming required.

We work with a trusted network of specialist paperhangers. At the order stage we can introduce a recommended installer in your area — or supply full installation notes for your own hanger.

Questions

Asked of the studio.

Can I order this mural to fit my exact wall size, and how is it supplied?

Yes — every mural is made to your wall's precise width and height. You supply your measurements at checkout and we print and trim accordingly. The mural arrives as individually numbered drop panels so installation is straightforward even on large walls.

Can the scene be adapted — different time of day, different vessel colours, or a specific harbour?

Bespoke commissions are welcome. We can shift the palette to dusk or golden hour, change vessel hull colours, adjust the depth of the headland mist, or work from reference photographs of a specific harbour. Please use the bespoke enquiry form with your brief and we will respond with a proposal.
