The Composition

What the mural describes.

The nearest birch tree stands just left of centre at full-portrait intimacy: papery layers of bark peel back to reveal salmon-pink and cream beneath, dark horizontal lenticels score the white surface like handwriting, and a knot healed at shoulder height into a dark eye-shaped whorl. The viewer is close enough to feel the coolness of the bark. Framing trunks enter from the left and right edges — only their inner halves visible — establishing that the grove extends far beyond the frame, the light between them drawing the eye deeper into the soft, receding woodland beyond. A forked Y-trunk stands behind the hero, its split happening at chest height; both arms rise thinner and younger, providing structural variety. Scrolled sheets of peeling bark curl from the hero and Y-trunk, some hanging by a thread, others rolled tight — their translucent edges catching the honest Scandinavian daylight and turning briefly golden. The undergrowth at the roots is lush and specific: unfurling fern fronds in bright spring green, white wood sorrel with shamrock leaves, and scattered wood anemones with yellow centres. A nuthatch clings to the hero trunk at mid-height, head pointing downward in its characteristic pose, blue-grey back and peach underside vivid against the white bark. A fallen birch log lies diagonally in the lower foreground, its bark still white but softened by decay, bright green moss colonising its upper surface, a bracket fungus at one end — death and renewal occupying the same frame.

This mural brings an intimate, honest woodland into a bedroom, bathroom or corridor — the quality of light and texture that makes a room feel grounded and unhurried. Printed to your exact dimensions as numbered paste-the-wall panels on matt non-woven stock. Bespoke colourways, including a winter-bare or golden-autumn palette, are available through our atelier.

How It Arrives

A roll, a paste, a named hanger.

Each mural is printed to the exact measurements you submit — width, height, and drop — then supplied as sequentially numbered panels, ready to hang in order. Paste system: standard overlap paste, seams pattern-matched. No trimming required.

We work with a trusted network of specialist paperhangers. At the order stage we can introduce a recommended installer in your area — or supply full installation notes for your own hanger.
