What the mural describes.
This mural recreates the aesthetic of an 18th-century botanical engraving collection, arranged as if laid out across aged paper on a deep warm charcoal ground (#1a1816). A large peony plate dominates the lower-left, its amber and ochre petals rendered in stipple and sepia ink with the kind of fine-grained precision that once distinguished scientific illustration from mere ornament. An elegant rose engraving sweeps through the centre in a gentle S-curve, warm ivory-amber; to the right, a thistle-and-teasel plate rises with sculptural verticality, its spiny forms in cooler sage. A pressed fern sheet lies flat, as if freshly placed; apothecary herbs, a wildflower field study and a trailing vine border weave through the composition and beyond. The charcoal ground carries the ghost of foxing — barely perceptible aged-paper marks that lend the whole a patina of authentic antiquity. In the upper-right, a precisely pinned hawk moth waits to be found; its wing detail repays close inspection entirely.
This is a mural for a formal dining room, a lined library, a powder room where a guest should pause. The warm sepia and amber tones read like candlelight by evening; by daylight the linework sharpens into something more clinical. Printed at your exact wall dimensions and supplied as numbered panels on paste-the-wall non-woven; bespoke colourways, including lighter parchment grounds, are available on request.

Asked of the studio.
How is the mural sized and supplied?
We print to your wall's exact width and height. Send us your measurements and we produce the artwork at full scale, supplied as consecutively numbered drop panels that align edge to edge. No trimming to pattern — every panel is pre-matched.
Can the ground colour be changed?
Yes. The warm charcoal is the standard ground for Heritage Noir, but we can produce it on lighter alternatives — aged parchment, deep navy, or a custom match — as a bespoke commission. Contact us with your requirements.
