This mural sets its botanical specimens against a ground of deep aubergine-plum (#1a0a1a) — not black but a chromatically rich darkness that warms the entire palette. A lavender-cream rose holds the upper left, lit from above by a cool directional twilight that makes its petals appear to glow from within. Below and beside it, a cream cabbage rose in warm tones and a large dusty-mauve peony form a dense, intertwined cluster. Wild clematis cascades from the upper left, searching tendrils arching into the composition; ethereal Old Man's Beard seedheads — silvery-white, feathery — spill in from the upper right and catch the available light with a ghostly luminescence. A frosted silver-green rose foliage branch and nodding hellebore clusters weave through the mid-zone; dried lavender provides a vertical architectural note; a single large leathery hellebore leaf anchors the lower right. The whole composition has the quality of an overgrown garden rather than a cut arrangement. Amethyst dewdrops are scattered across petals, their violet cast drawing colour from the ground. A poplar hawk moth rests, perfectly camouflaged, among the shadowed petals — found only on careful inspection.
