Woven through it all, a small blue bird perches at two o'clock within a scroll, a bumblebee visits a lower bloom, a butterfly opens wings that echo the damask geometry in miniature, and a scallop shell tucks into the base of each repeat like a quiet signature. The paint quality throughout is that of the finest printed toile — brushwork visible, each blue luminous and varied rather than flat.
