The Composition

What the mural describes.

Composed against a deep indigo silk ground (#0a0a2a), this nocturnal chinoiserie mural is built on the tension between moonlight and darkness. At the upper centre, a luminous full moon casts cold silver light across the scene, its subtle warm-gold halo the only warmth in an otherwise austere palette. Ancient plum trunks — dark as iron, bark catching silver at their upper faces — frame the composition in a loose U. From their branches, silver-white plum blossoms burst in dense clusters on the left and in lighter sprays on the right, each five-petalled flower rendered with stamens visible. A mist layer drifts across the midground, softening the base of receding blue-grey mountains. In the lower midground, a great egret stands at the water's edge, its pure white plumage the brightest form in the painting — a column of living moonlight. A second egret leans forward in a hunting pose further back, creating depth through scale. The water surface in the lower quarter carries a broken moon reflection, stretched and rippled. Fallen plum petals drift on the water near dark scholar's rocks. A tiny night bird crosses the upper sky — a single brushstroke of ink against the slightly lighter ground near the moon.

This mural has the scale and restraint of a room designed to impress without effort. It suits a hotel suite, a formal dining room or a large master bedroom where dramatic contrast can work at full scale. Printed to exact measurements on paste-the-wall non-woven; custom colourways, including alternative ground tones, available.

How It Arrives

A roll, a paste, a named hanger.

Each mural is printed to the exact measurements you submit — width, height, and drop — then supplied as sequentially numbered panels, ready to hang in order. Paste system: standard overlap paste, seams pattern-matched. No trimming required.

We work with a trusted network of specialist paperhangers. At the order stage we can introduce a recommended installer in your area — or supply full installation notes for your own hanger.

Questions

Asked of the studio.

How is the mural sized and supplied?

We print to your wall's exact width and height. Send us your measurements and we produce the artwork at full scale, supplied as consecutively numbered drop panels that align edge to edge. No trimming to pattern — every panel is pre-matched.

What paper is used, and how is it hung?

Printed on a premium matt non-woven substrate, paste-the-wall method: apply adhesive to the wall, not the paper. Non-woven is dimensionally stable, repositionable during hanging, and suitable for most wall types including plaster and plasterboard.
