What the mural describes.
Golden hour on the East African savanna, the light so warm and low that every creature casts a long soft shadow. An elephant mother and her calf stand beneath a broad-canopied acacia, their bodies touching — the mother's trunk curved protectively downward, the calf pressing into her front leg, both rendered in warm grey washes layered over raw umber so that their skin reads as sun-warmed stone. A giraffe bends its extraordinary neck to the watering hole at the centre, its patch pattern in burnt sienna and cream painted with the patience of genuine observation, its reflection shimmering in loose washes below. A small family of zebras grazes in the middle distance, their stripes in soft charcoal and warm cream, edges blurred by the shimmer of rising heat. A lion and lioness rest in tall savanna grass to the right, the male's mane bleeding into the surrounding grass in layered tawny washes. At the water's edge, two flamingos stand in the shallows in dusty rose, one neck curved in its characteristic S; a hippo is half-submerged in the deeper water, broad grey-violet back just breaking the surface. A meerkat stands bolt upright on a termite mound. Small calligraphic birds perch in the acacia branches; a butterfly drifts above the flamingos; a chameleon grips the acacia trunk. Soft watercolour clouds drift across the upper reaches. The entire scene holds within a palette of sage green, warm cream, sand, dusty rose and tawny gold — enveloping and gentle.
