The Composition

What the mural describes.

Against a deep teal-verdigris ground — the colour of aged silk, warm copper undertones breathing through the paint — two red-crowned cranes inhabit a moonlit chinoiserie garden. The standing crane, its plumage a stark ivory-white, holds the lower third of the composition with the quiet dignity of a subject who knows it is being watched; above it, a second crane crosses the sky with wings fully extended, drawing the eye across the full width of the scene. Magnolia branches command the composition on both sides, their enormous cup-shaped blooms rendered in ivory with jade-green shadow, petals at every stage from velvet bud to fully open; below, a cluster of silver-white peonies anchors the lower-left. Two luminous jade-tinted butterflies drift between the birds. In the far background, misty mountains recede into the teal atmosphere, and a multi-tiered pagoda dissolves into pale mist just right of centre. The palette is pure moonlit chinoiserie — jade, silver, ivory and charcoal — with the single scarlet note of each crane's crown the only warm accent in the painting.

This mural turns a dining room, bedroom or entrance hall into an immersive East Asian garden, the scene shifting with the light from cool morning restraint to evening ceremony. It is printed to your wall's exact measurements and supplied as sequentially numbered paste-the-wall drop panels on matt non-woven stock. Custom colourways — including alternative grounds in midnight navy, sage celadon or soft charcoal — are available on request through our bespoke service.

How It Arrives

A roll, a paste, a named hanger.

Each mural is printed to the exact measurements you submit — width, height, and drop — then supplied as sequentially numbered panels, ready to hang in order. Paste system: standard overlap paste, seams pattern-matched. No trimming required.

We work with a trusted network of specialist paperhangers. At the order stage we can introduce a recommended installer in your area — or supply full installation notes for your own hanger.

Questions

Asked of the studio.

Can this be made to fit my wall exactly, and how is it supplied?

Yes — every mural is printed to the precise dimensions you provide. It arrives as sequentially numbered paste-the-wall drop panels with a hanging guide, making installation straightforward. Sample swatches are available before you commit to a full order.

Can I have this in a different colourway, and what is the paper?

Absolutely. Our bespoke service can adapt the ground colour — midnight navy, sage celadon, warm charcoal and others are possible. The paper itself is a premium matt non-woven, pasted to the wall (not the paper), suitable for professional or confident DIY installation.
